Leysis Quesada Vera

Leysis Quesada's interest in photography was first inspired by a cousin, Cuban photographer Lázaro Miranda, and it was under his tutelage that Leysis Quesada, in 1999, made her first photographs in the province of Guantanamo. She has since studied with internationally known photographers David Alan Harvey and Nicolás Pascarel, among others.

She is a member of Cuban Society of the Photographic Image. Her work has been exhibited in museums and galleries around Havana. Her photographs document rural life in her home province of Matanzas, fishermen in Cienfuegos and the human impact of Hurricane Michelle in Cuba's central provinces.

She is currently documenting the culture of Arab immigrants in Havana.
